Off-Grid Community Radio Mesh Network
AlamanceLive provides decentralized, self-healing wireless communications across Burlington, Graham, Mebane, Elon, Haw River, and Snow Camp. Powered by high-elevation LoRa repeaters and the open-source MeshCore protocol.
Public Hashtag Channels
Join our open regional channels in the MeshCore mobile application to converse with the community or test your transceiver node.
The primary general chat room for Alamance County. Use this channel for regional off-grid chat, network status updates, emergency communications, and community discussion across Burlington, Graham, Mebane, and surrounding areas.
Dedicated channel for signal checks, RSSI/SNR tests, automated telemetry pings, and verifying range with local stationary repeaters. Keeps test chatter clean from the main public channel.
What is MeshCore?
MeshCore is a lightweight, open-source C++ library designed for multi-hop packet routing over LoRa radios. It keeps communities connected without cellular towers or internet infrastructure.
Intelligent Routing
Selective multi-hop packet forwarding prevents unnecessary channel congestion and optimizes airtime usage compared to standard flood routing.
End-to-End Security
Cryptographic identity verification paired with AES encryption ensures private text and sensor telemetry remain secure across the public radio band.
Ultra-Low Power
Designed for multi-day battery and solar operation. End-user companion nodes refrain from repeating overall network traffic.
Self-Healing Mesh
If an intermediate repeater goes offline, surrounding nodes automatically discover alternate routes to maintain grid resilience.
Mesh Infrastructure Overview
MeshCore relies on dedicated stationary repeaters to handle channel routing while mobile companions remain low-power clients:
